Mary Nemick
Mary Nemick is a communications and public policy consultant with a focus on developing media strategies for political and advocacy campaigns, government agencies and non-profit organizations.
Mary has worked on numerous Democratic campaigns in a press capacity at the local, state and national level, including, most recently, the successful congressional campaign of Dr. Steve Kagen (WI-8) and as a regional press secretary in Wisconsin for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. During the Clinton Administration, Mary traveled with the President, coordinating media access and logistics for the White House Press Office in the U.S. and overseas.
As a communications and public policy consultant, Mary has worked with government agencies and non-profit organizations such as the City of Long Beach and the California Partnership for Working Families. Mary was acting Director of Communications for the 35th anniversary of Earth Day in 2005 for Earth Day Network. Mary has worked in the private sector as well, as Director of Communications for APL Logistics, an international trade and transportation company with headquarters in Oakland and Singapore. Prior to launching her own consulting practice, she worked for the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission and the State of Maine’s Economic Development Department.
Mary began her career as a journalist for National Public Radio affiliates in Wisconsin and Boston. She did her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Massachusetts and received a graduate degree in urban planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mary lives in Los Angeles.
