(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – today announced its endorsement of Nithya Raman for Los Angeles City Council District 4 in the upcoming March 5 election.
“Councilmember Raman has proven her commitment to the environment during her first term on the Los Angeles City Council. She has been thoughtful in her approach to the issues, bringing different viewpoints to the table to craft successful environmental policies. As a trained urban planner and practiced advocate who has worked throughout her career at the intersection of environmental and urban poverty issues, Nithya Raman has the know-how to continue to help tackle our City’s immense environmental challenges,” said LALCV Endorsement Chair, Kirsten James.
Being the second most populous city in the nation, Los Angeles faces numerous environmental challenges from air and water pollution to waste management. In her first term, Nithya Raman championed building decarbonization, mobility and port pollution among other issues. She hopes to continue this focus, including helping the City to implement its ambitions 100% clean energy targets.
“I am so proud to be endorsed again by the LA League of Conservation Voters, who have been such a strong and effective voice for urgent climate action,” Ms. Raman reflected. “It is because of their determined electoral organizing that pro-environment candidates have a chance to win against the powerful, well-resourced oil and gas interests that put their profits over the health of our neighborhoods and environment.”
