Joshua Torres (he/him/his)
Joshua Torres is currently a Senior Policy Advisor with Southern California Edison’s Local Public Affairs department. In that capacity, Joshua is responsible for leading SCE’s external engagement with local governments and community stakeholders on topics related to the clean energy transition. He works with SCE’s team of Government Relations Managers to educate community leaders about what SCE is doing to assist California’s transition away from fossil fuels and identify opportunities for collaboration to further accelerate the clean energy transition. This includes working directly with local governments in to promote the adoption of clean technologies like electric vehicle charging infrastructure and energy storage, as well as the adoption of clean energy policies such as electric reach codes, climate action plans, and EV-readiness plans. It also includes connecting local governments with technical knowledge and resources to help them achieve their greenhouse gas reduction goals.
Joshua has worked for SCE for ten years in multiple positions, all related to working with local government and community stakeholders. This included leading community engagement for construction of the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project, the first high voltage transmission line specifically constructed to connect renewable energy to the grid. Before joining SCE, Joshua worked for the City of Rancho Cucamonga as an analyst in both the City Manager’s Office and Engineering Department. Joshua has a Master’s of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science and Economics from Florida State University.
