Maricela Gomez (she/her/hers) – Vice President
Maricela Gomez is part of the Executive Team for the Los Angeles Community College District’s $9.6 billion capital improvement program leading all internal and external messaging to promote construction milestones, design of state-of-the-art higher educational facilities and sustainable building practices. Ms. Gomez was previously appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. to serve as the Deputy Director of Legislative and Inter-governmental Affairs in the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) where she oversaw legislative matters impacting business, economic development and job creation state-wide. Ms. Gomez, 20-plus year public affairs professional, has experience in strategic planning, multi-media communications, managing key stakeholder relationships and creating community integration opportunities. She has worked on policy matters impacting business, sustainability, the built environment, infrastructure, public safety and privacy protections at the local and state levels in addition to overseeing the entitlement approvals for two regionally significant development projects. Ms. Gomez graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She is an avid hiker and enjoys all the arts available throughout the Los Angeles region.
