Roxan (Roxy) Rivas (they/them/theirs) – Fundraising Chair
Roxy Rivas is currently serving as the Planning Director at Pacoima Beautiful. In this role, Roxy brings a racial justice lens to their work, analyzing urban challenges through public health and urban planning frameworks.
Passionate about addressing environmental and racial inequities, Roxy focuses on critical issues such as parks and open space, housing, and mobility justice. Their commitment to amplifying the voices and needs of residents is evident in their previous role at Kounkuey Design Initiative (KDI), where they supported several planning projects with robust research and community engagement practices.
Before joining Pacoima Beautiful, Roxy worked as a planning coordinator at KDI, contributing to community development and design projects. Their belief in addressing residents’ needs through design, planning, and systems change approaches underscores their commitment to creating positive change.
Prior to their work at KDI, Roxy made significant contributions at Prevention Institute, emphasizing public policy initiatives that promote environmental and sustainable approaches to prevention and health equity outcomes. They applied their policy advocacy and systems change expertise to address park inequities, environmental impacts, and health disparities across communities in California.
Born and raised in the Northeast San Fernando Valley, Roxy is committed to serving the 818 and the surrounding LA County area. They enjoy taking long walks with their dog, Ozzy, embarking on road trips, surfing, and playing basketball with friends.
Roxy earned their Master’s in Urban Planning from CSUN and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
