Jesse Gabriel – 2015 – June 2018
Jesse Gabriel is an attorney with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He has a diverse practice that includes representing clients in complex commercial disputes as well as advising them on timely public policy matters.
Prior to entering private practice, Jesse served as Counsel to Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana. In that capacity, he was responsible for advising the Senator on a broad range of legal and policy issues, including the vetting and Senate confirmation of multiple executive branch and judicial nominees.
Jesse also helped draft the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act, key provisions of which were incorporated into the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act, which was signed into law in 2010.
Jesse is active with a variety of nonprofit and community organizations. In addition to LALCV, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, is a partner with the Truman National Security Project, and serves as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles County Commission on Local Governmental Services.
Jesse graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he received the Dean’s Award for Community Leadership. He earned a degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley, where he served as student body president and graduated with Highest Distinction in General Scholarship. Jesse lives in Encino with his wife Rachel, an attorney who specializes in the financing and development of affordable housing, and his sons Ethan and Joshua.
He was Elected to the State Assembly and sworn in on June 11, 2018, and had to step down from the LALCV board.
