Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses Ardavan Davari and Rebecca Guillen-Perez for
Paramount City Council
(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – announced its endorsement of Ardavan Davari and Rebecca Guillen-Perez for City Council seats in the upcoming Paramount election taking place on March 3rd together with the CA Primary Election.
“Paramount, like so many of its Southeast LA neighbors, disproportionately deal with bad air quality due to heavy industry and the many freeways crisscrossing this side of LA County. In 2017, we all learned about the incredibly high levels of the dangerous hexavalent chromium being produced by the many metal companies in Paramount, but despite work being done on the issue, the crisis is far from over, said Juan Muñoz, LALCV Board Secretary and Endorsement Team lead for this race.” “This is why we are thrilled to endorse Rebecca Guillen-Perez and Ardavan Davari, two leaders who have demonstrated commitment to dealing with this crisis head on by proposing the creation of an air and water quality citizen commission, a moratorium on new metal companies, and stronger city regulations, he added.”
“I am honored to have received the endorsement of LALCV. As an individual who was born, raised and rooted in Paramount, I know the importance of living in a clean and healthy environment, free from air toxins. This is why I have advocated for stricter regulations for companies that have repeatedly polluted our community for much too long. I look forward to partnering with the LALCV to ensure that the environmental injustices present in Paramount are addressed and controlled. Together we can create a council willing to make the health of our community a priority, said Rebecca-Guillen Perez.”
“I am honored to receive the endorsement and support of LALCV. It is time to replace dirty and toxic with clean and green in Paramount. I look forward to working with LALCV to address serious environmental issues in the community that have existed for far too long. I will support economic planning and policies that seek to reduce existing sources of pollution from companies that emit toxins. It is time to bring clean jobs and green companies into Paramount that adopt principles and practices that protect people and the planet. We can no longer ignore our deserving residents whose physical health has been directly impacted by emissions of toxic air, said Ardavan Davari.”
