Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses

Bélen Bernal for South Gate City Council

LOS ANGELES (January 18, 2020) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – announced its endorsement of Bélen Bernal for South Gate City Council in the upcoming March 3rd election.

Bélen Bernal has been a strong advocate for the city of South Gate in her past and current positions as treasurer, councilmember and Mayor,” said LALCV Board President Michael Kadish. “If re-elected, as a councilmember she will continue to be a leader in the fight for clean air, soil clean-up and improving water quality in her community.”

With its proximity to the Alameda Corridor, the city of South Gate suffers from air, noise and water pollution which have impacted the health of its residents for decades. Bernal will continue serving South Gate by combating air pollution, improving open spaces and encouraging the clean-up of three Superfund sites located within the city.

“I am honored to receive LALCV’s endorsement. I look forward to working with LALCV to advocate for environmental justice issues impacting my community,” said South Gate candidate Belen Bernal. More information on Bélen Bernal’s campaign is available at www.belenbernal.com.
