LALCV endorses Holly J. Mitchell for LA County Supervisor District 2

(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – announced its endorsement of Senator Holly J. Mitchell in her campaign for the 2nd Supervisorial District on the LA County Board of Supervisors.

“We are excited to endorse Senator Mitchell because she is the type of environmental champion we need for the 2nd Supervisorial District. While in the state legislature she has introduced legislation that would have put a moratorium on fracking while it was further studied (SB1132). At the county level she is committed to establishing a 2,500-foot buffer zone between an active oil drilling site and homes/sensitive community sites. She wants to actualize the fossil fuel free goal in the LA County Sustainability Plan, push for more green spaces, and invest in our public transit system” said Juan Muñoz, LALCV Board Secretary and Endorsement Team lead for this race.

“The Second Supervisorial District requires unique environmental justice actions that we must take, this includes safeguarding neighborhoods that are near the largest oil field in the country, protecting the Ballona Wetlands, and expanding parks and green spaces to underserved communities. These are just a few of the pressing issues I am committed to addressing as County Supervisor. I view it as an honor and responsibility to have the endorsement of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters” said Senator Holly Mitchell.
