(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than four decades – announced its endorsement of current Director Martha Camacho-Rodriguez in her re-election campaign for the Central Basin Municipal Water District, Division 1 that encompasses the cities of Bell Gardens, Downey, Montebello, Pico Rivera, West Whittier-Los Nietos, and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
“We are excited to endorse Director Camacho Rodriguez, because she is the type of environmental champion we need for the Central Basin Municipal Water District. During the last 2 years she has been in office, she has been a consistent environmental justice voice on the board and an advocate for keeping our water resources under public control. Recently, her leadership led to resolving the impasse on the Board of Directors and passing a balanced budget. In her next term, she hopes to grow community partnerships and address the contamination in local water wells,” said Juan Muñoz, LALCV Board Secretary and Endorsement Team lead for this race.
“I am incredibly thankful to the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters for their endorsement of my re-election campaign for Central Basin Division 1. This organization’s trust is also a great sense of responsibility. It takes a collective effort to serve my constituents and those within our service area, and I look forward to working with the LALCV to ensure that we can continue meeting our water needs while being environmentally conscious,” said Director Martha Camacho-Rodriguez.
