Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses Suely Saro for Long Beach City Council District 6

LOS ANGELES (February 9, 2020) The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than four decades – today announced its endorsement of Suely Saro for Long Beach City Council District 6 in the upcoming March 3rd election.

Long Beach is facing environmental challenges from multiple sides, including sea-level rise, blight, lack of open space, and urban heat. Saro plans to address air quality and improve residents’ quality of life with more parks and open space. She wants to help her constituents to understand the practical connection between climate change and their daily lives. She believes that greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by implementing the Clean Air Action Plan and Clean Truck Plan, and by changing practices in the city and in residents’ activities, especially by communicating easy ways to make changes.

Suely’s experience in promoting environmental issues in Long Beach, like LA River restoration, clean air, renewable energy, and helping to develop the Lower LA River Recreation and Parks District, have prepared her to serve the 6th council district and prepare residents for climate impacts,” said LALCV President Michael Kadish.

“I am deeply grateful to the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters for their support, but more importantly for their essential work. I am confident that with their support and the support of Long Beach residents, we will continue making progress to protect and preserve the environment for everyone who lives and works in our communities,” said Long Beach District 6 candidate Suely Saro.
