LOS ANGELES COUNTY (October 16, 2024)– The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County –  announced its dual-endorsement of Daisy Lomelí and Amanda Gomez for Cudahy City Council.

Daisy Lomelí and Amanda Gomez are running together on a slate and are poised to tackle the City of Cudahy’s pressing environmental justice challenges, including improving park equity, land and water contamination, and severe air pollution. Cudahy is adjacent to the 710 freeway, surrounded by industrial land uses, and is in the top 5% of most environmentally burdened communities in California according to CalEnviroScreen 4.0.

“We are thrilled to endorse two environmental justice and housing justice champions for Cudahy City Council,” said Elsa Mei Tung, LALCV board member who led the endorsement team for this race. “Both Daisy Lomelí and Amanda Gomez will be the thoughtful, community-focused progressive leaders that Cudahy and the Southeast Los Angeles region need to address the region’s serious environmental health burdens.”

“I am incredibly honored to receive the endorsement of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters in my re-election campaign for the Cudahy City Council,” said Daisy Lomelí. “Together, we share a vision and a passion for protecting and nurturing our environment. With determination and unity, we will safeguard Cudahy’s future by building a healthier, more walkable, and sustainable city—not just for today, but for the next seven generations and beyond.”

“As a first-time candidate, I am beyond honored to receive an endorsement from LALCV,” said Amanda Gomez. “Having grown up in Cudahy, surrounded by environmental harms, I hope to be able to bring justice to my community so we can all live healthy lives.”
