Yes on RELOS ANGELES COUNTY (September 20, 2020) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – supporting pro-environment candidates and measures throughout Los Angeles County – announced its endorsement of Measure RE in Culver City.

Measure RE is a rare example of a progressive local tax, which was informed by a report “A Call for Real Estate Transfer Tax Reform” from UCLA Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies that would support investments in deferred parks/facilities/street maintenance, addressing homelessness, after-school/senior service, and economic recovery. In the face of declining revenues from sales taxes due to COVID-19, Culver City needs these additional revenues to continue their environmental and climate initiatives.

Culver City has been at the forefront of environmental action in southern California, promoting transit-oriented development, biking, transit, parks, wetland and stream restoration, clean energy goals, and climate action, which would be at risk without Measure RE to provide resources for these environmental goals,” said Shona Calzada Ganguly, LALCV vice president.
