LOS ANGELES COUNTY (October 9, 2024) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – today announced its endorsement of Michael Detoy and Michael Keegan for Hermosa Beach City Council in the upcoming November 5th, 2024 election.

“As a firefighter, Michael Detoy has seen first-hand the impacts of climate change and understands that local government plays an important role in helping to mitigate impacts and steward our environment.  Michael will be a leader on environmental issues such as developing climate adaptation plans, managing the city’s waste to ensure plastic pollution reduction and supporting the smart redevelopment of City Hall if he maintains his seat on the Hermosa Beach City Council,” said LALCV Director Kirsten James, who led the organization’s endorsement team for this race.

“I am incredibly grateful to the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters for their endorsement. LALCV’s commitment to protecting our environment aligns perfectly with my dedication to preserving the natural beauty and quality of life in Hermosa Beach,” said Detoy.

“Michael Keegan has a track record of supporting environmental policies from his first term on Hermosa Beach City Council,” said LALCV Director Kirsten James.  “If he returns to Council, he would continue to prioritize environmental issues such as supporting strategies for improved waste management, rebuilding city hall in a sustainable way and furthering water quality improvements in our coastal waters.”
