Mary Sue Maurer and David Shapiro for Calabasas City Council

(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – today announced its endorsement ofMary Sue Maurer and David Shapiro for City Council seats in Calabasas’upcoming November 6 election.

“Mary Sue Maurer is a true environmental champion who consistently supports the preservation of open space for wildlife and for people,” says Stephanie Molen, President of the LA League of Conservation Voters. “She is also urging the city to adopt a strong renewable energy platform—100 percent—and we are hopeful that her Council colleagues, if she is re-elected, will heed her call. From water conservation to transit, Mary Sue Maurer is without question an environmental leader.”

“David Shapiro’s focus on engaging youth to be the next stewards of our environment is admirable and is an important statement of his environmental values. We recognize Mr. Shapiro’s desire to help the city conserve and recycle water as well as his plan to strengthen the ban on single use plastics. These efforts can help make the city of Calabasas a leader among cities on protecting the environment.”
