Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters Endorses Kevin de Leόn for Mayor of Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES COUNTY — The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) — supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County — announced its endorsement of Kevin de Leόn for Mayor of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles City Councilmember Kevin de León has a long track record of being at the frontline of environmental justice and the fight against climate change. His landmark bill SB100 made California the largest economy in the world to commit itself to a carbon free future by 2045, and his Charge Ahead California initiative (SB 1275) helped expand access to ZEVs and NZEVs, especially in traditionally disadvantaged communities. He helped to establish CalEnviroScreen to allocate park funding to communities shouldering the heaviest environmental burdens, and his legislation has created parks around the state, including at least 22 in Los Angeles alone.

“The Mayor of Los Angeles must be an environmental leader to respond to extreme climate impacts, and Kevin de Leόn has consistently demonstrated that he champions environmental justice and climate action for our communities. His experience in the state legislature and Los Angeles City Council will serve Angelenos in addressing the multiple challenges of housing insecurity, emissions reductions, air quality, reliable water supply, renewable energy, public and active transportation, access to parks and open space, and equity that we face in our city and region,” said LALCV President Shona Ganguly.

“As someone who has made environmental justice a through-line in their legislative career, I am humbled by the endorsement of one of our city’s most established and respected environmental advocacy organizations. LALCV stands for the values that I fight for everyday, and I will continue to fight for those values from the Mayor’s office. Thank you for placing your trust in me and our campaign, and I look forward to taking LALCV across the finish line with us in June,” said Councilmember Kevin de León.
