Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses Jennifer Love Tang and Henry Lo for Monterey Park City Council
LOS ANGELES (February 9, 2020) The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than four decades – today announced its endorsement of Jennifer Love Tang for District 2 and Henry Lo for District 4 on Monterey Park City Council in the upcoming March 3rd election.
Tang is committed to improving air quality, access to green space, and waste management in Monterey Park. She has worked to reduce the use of single-use plastics. She also aims to update the bus routes and improve ridership as well as strengthening infrastructure like bike lanes to reduce driving and encourage alternative options.
Lo has served as a Garvey School District Board Member for 16 years and has worked for the state legislature for 20 years. His environmental priorities include increasing the city’s green infrastructure, decreasing congestion and air quality, improving the region’s transportation system, and encouraging water conservation.
“Jennifer Tang’s years of experience as an educator help her to understand the needs of and to communicate with her constituents. She sees opportunities for the city to be a leader in creating sustainable businesses in the San Gabriel Valley. Henry Lo’s focus on collaboration fosters innovative practices to address drought, energy consumption, and access to transit to improve the quality of life for residents of Monterey Park,” said LALCV President Michael Kadish.
“I am running for Monterey Park City Council to be a voice for families who want a city that places environmental and sustainability issues as an integral part of its list of priorities. I look forward to working with the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters to build a more green future for us all,” said Monterey Park candidate Henry Lo.
“It is an honor to be endorsed by the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters. Environmental justice is crucial at every level of government, and I look forward to working with LALCV to advocate for environmental justice on behalf of the Monterey Park community,” said candidate Jennifer Tang.
