Los Angeles County (October 13. 2020) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than four decades – announced its endorsement of Sasha Renee Perez and incumbent Jeff Maloney for Alhambra City Council in the upcoming November 3rd election.
The City of Alhambra has some of the worst air quality in the country due to the city’s proximity to two major freeways and the high number of auto dealerships located within the city but if elected, Perez and Maloney would push for sustainable and equitable environmental solutions supporting the Sustainability Action Plan passed by the city in 2019.
“Jeff Maloney has been a leader on environmental initiatives in his first term on the Council, including the groundbreaking Sustainability Action Plan and will continue being an environmental champion if reelected,” said Anais Medina Diaz, communications chair for LALCV.
Acknowledging the great challenges the City Council will face with economic recovery, Councilmember Maloney remains committed to environmental issues like implementing the Sustainability Action Plan, creating multi-benefit projects where open space is available, and improving the city’s active transportation plan. “If elected, Sasha Renee Perez would support finding solutions to the city’s bad air quality, lack of green space and follow through on the implementation of Alhambra’s bike master plan,” said Medina Diaz.
Environmental sustainability is a core part of Perez’s platform and has already worked with residents on addressing the many environmental issues affecting their quality of life through her various roles.
