(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV), which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than four decades, today announced its endorsement of Cliff Numark for Torrance Mayor in the upcoming June 7 election.
“Cliff has a proven track record of environmental progress from his time on the Torrance City Council. In the Mayor’s seat, Cliff will continue his leadership on environmental issues within the City and will also promote regional collaboration on critical issues that cross city boundaries such as promoting alternate transportation options and curbing stormwater pollution,” LALCV Director and Endorsement Team Lead Kirsten James said.
As a coastal community in a highly urbanized region with an oil refinery, Torrance faces many environmental challenges, with weather extremes and climate change creating additional pressures. Numark will serve Torrance well by reducing the city’s carbon footprint, fostering the increased use of local water supplies such as recycled water, and integrating an environmental ethic in all city departments.
