Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses

Daniel Lee and Alex Fisch for Culver City Council

(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – today announced its endorsement of Daniel Lee and Alex Fisch for Culver City Council in the upcoming April election.

“Daniel Lee and Alex Fisch are strong environmental advocates,” said LALCV Vice President Shona Ganguly. “Mr. Lee and Mr. Fisch will be energetic and effective leaders on key environmental issues for Culver City, like regulation of the Inglewood Oil Field and transition to clean energy.”

Culver City faces a range of environmental challenges from oil drilling to water security to reducing waste. The city has been at the forefront of environmental solutions, having passed the Clean Water, Clean Beaches parcel tax to improve water quality and prevent pollution in Ballona Creek, Marina del Rey Harbor, Santa Monica Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. Culver City is also a member of the Clean Power Alliance of Southern California to purchase cleaner and more renewable electricity and develop energy programs to decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Culver City Council also adopted an ordinance that bans the sale and use of polystyrene products (“styrofoam”).

Daniel Lee and Alex Fisch have supported the polystyrene ban, efforts to ensure a clean, sustainable water supply, and a climate resilient city by advocating for integrating climate into Culver City’s General Plan Update, potentially with a Climate Action Plan. Both candidates have been vocal on the dangers of fracking and oil drilling and have been champions for renewable energy, alternate modes of transportation, parks and open space, and zero waste.

Daniel Lee promotes walking, biking, and public transportation, reducing Culver City’s carbon footprint, a promotional campaign for Community Choice Energy to educate residents, and a comprehensive water program with native-drought tolerant landscaping that encourages water conservation.

Alex Fisch has prioritized the protection and preservation of natural resources. He is an active member of BikeCulverCity. He serves as the Chair of the Culver City Committee on Homelessness. Mr. Fisch also supports transit-oriented development.
