LOS ANGELES COUNTY (September 22, 2020) The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County – announced its endorsement of Doug Solomon for West Basin Municipal Water, Division III.
Doug has earned the trust of the community and environmental organizations for his tireless activism to ensure oversight of West Basin and keep this water agency on task of choosing cost effective, sensible, and sustainable water policy. Doug has taken the lead in opposing an investment into creating a desalination plant which has been proven to be the least environmentally effective approach. Doug knows that rate payer funds are best spent on making better use of recycled water and capturing stormwater.
LALCV Board President Michael Kadish is excited to join other environmental leaders in supporting a change in leadership at West Basin. “Doug will continue building trust as an effective water policy leader who considers the community and the environment when delivering drought resistant, safe, and clean water supplies,” said Kadish.
“In working with the community and environmental leaders for many years, I believe I can make a difference at West Basin to get it back on track to making the right investments in recycled and captured stormwater without having to continue down the costly path of building an industrial desalination plant on our protected beach coast,” said Doug Solomon.
