LOS ANGELES (May 22, 2022) — The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) — supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County — announced its endorsement of Jeffrey Prang for LA County Assessor.
“The LALCV Board is proud to endorse Jeffrey Prang for LA County Assessor for a third time, because he has demonstrated a strong environmental ethic in every position he has held from West Hollywood to LA County,” said LALCV President Shona Ganguly.
The LA County Assessor is a critical role, because assessment values directly relate to funding for water and sanitation districts, vector control, county fire, and more services. Assessor Prang is committed to an accurate and fair process, which requires efficiency, resources, and personnel to ensure that there is enough money to fund vital services. He has pursued opportunities to prioritize sustainability in office operations and to establish a workforce development program to create a pipeline from local community colleges to good-paying county jobs.
“As a committed environmentalist and longtime LALCV supporter, I am particularly honored to have earned the endorsement of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters. I have dedicated my career to taking bold action to protect our environment, defend our precious open spaces, reduce our carbon footprint, and promote environmental policies that are fair and equitable for all people. I am proud of my record of standing up to polluters and will continue to be a leader in supporting innovative policies to combat climate change,” said Assessor Prang.
As a city councilmember for 18 years, Assessor Prang supported numerous initiatives that included converting the city’s fleet into a zero-emission fleet, establishing a LEED standard for municipal buildings, and increasing commercial and residential recycling. Assessor Prang has also been a member of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission, as well as a Sanitation District Member in the County of Los Angeles.
