LOS ANGELES COUNTY (September 22, 2020) The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County – announced its endorsement of Katarina “Katie” Garcia for the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, Division 4.
Katie is an inspirational instructor to our future leaders. As an Advanced Placement Life Science teacher at a local high school, Katie sought out water curriculum from local water agencies to teach her students. Subsequently, Katie began taking water policy courses herself and toured water infrastructure and recycling facilities around the region. Katie is one of the best prepared candidates who is earning the community’s trust and confidence to be their next water leader.
LALCV Board President Michael Kadish knows that Upper San Gabriel is in need of new leadership. “Katie is ready to make the right choices to ensure her community has access to safe and clean water. Katie knows that there are better opportunities to provide safe, clean water than the environmentally destructive Cadiz water project that would damage fragile desert ecosystems.”
“I know the value of the LALCV endorsement and having a strong environmental vision as a candidate. I will make sure everyone’s right to safe and clean drinking water is met with the best science and strongest sustainability policy,” said Katie Garcia.
