LOS ANGELES COUNTY (February 16, 2024)– The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County – announced its endorsement of incumbent Marqueece Harris-Dawson for the Los Angeles City Council District 8.
As a steadfast advocate for environmental justice, Harris-Dawson has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to addressing the impacts of environmental racism and fighting for the health and well-being of all residents in his district.
District 8, which encompasses parts of South Los Angeles and spans from Baldwin Hills to the border of Watts, has long been disproportionately affected by environmental injustices, including the presence of numerous oil wells. Harris-Dawson’s dedication to combating these issues and advocating for the closure of harmful oil wells aligns perfectly with LALCV’s mission to protect our communities and the environment.
“We are thrilled to endorse Marqueece Harris-Dawson for re-election to the Los Angeles City Council,” said LALCV Board Member Gina Goodhill. “He’s proven himself to be a true champion for environmental justice, and we are confident that he will continue to make significant strides in creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all Angelenos.”
“Representing South Los Angeles, it is of the utmost importance that we have partners in the fight not only for our environment but also for environmental justice issues plaguing our neighborhoods,” said Councilmember Marqueece Harris Dawson. “I am grateful to have the endorsement of LALCV.”
