Maro Kakoussian (she/her) – Communications Chair
Maro works at PSR-LA and coordinates the STAND-LA and LEAP-LA coalitions on oil and gas campaigns and climate justice campaigns. She is responsible for coalition building and management as well as allies engagement, grassroots organizing, campaign development and implementation. She thrives on working together with other organizations and allies to build power.
Maro got involved in the environmental movement 10 years ago through the California Student Sustainability Coalition. As a student at UC Riverside, she did an internship at the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice (CCAEJ) where she learned about environmental justice issues in the Inland Empire. Maro has been committed to the movement ever since. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from UC Riverside.
Her favorite things about Los Angeles are the diverse music scene, the abundance of hiking trails and of course, the beach!
