Tianna Shaw-Wakeman (she/her)

Tianna Shaw-Wakeman is an environmental justice activist. She holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Southern California where she graduated as the first Black University Valedictorian for the Class of 2021. Currently, Tianna serves as the Environmental Justice Program Lead for local non-profit Black Women for Wellness where she works to advance the health and well-being of Black women and girls by engaging in community-focused research, empowerment, and advocacy. Through her work at BWW, she is actively engaged in Stand Together Against Neighborhood Oil Drilling where she works alongside frontline residents to eliminate neighborhood oil drilling in LA City & County, and in efforts to address water inequity, the environmental injustice of beauty, and other inequities pushed on low-income communities of color in South LA.

Now 7 years into her environmental activism, Tianna has been recognized by Good Morning America, during former LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s final State of the City Address, and she’s spoken at the Summit of America’s, the LA Times Book Festival, a COP 26 event, the LA Green Business Council, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM), the Alliance of Regional Collaboratives for Climate Adaptation (ARCCA), LA World Affairs Council, and as a guest lecturer at USC, UC Berkeley, and Occidental College.

Tianna values equity and believes in the power of community action – she intends to live a life of service with a focus on environmental justice and wellness.
