L.A. League of Conservation Voters Endorses Oscar Magaña & Veronica Guardado for Maywood City Council

(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – today announced its endorsement of Veronica Guardado and Oscar Magaña for re-election to the Maywood City Council in the upcoming November 3 election. LALCV first became involved in Maywood elections in 2005 and has continued for the past 10 years.

“As colleagues on the City Council, Oscar Magaña and Veronica Guardado have worked effectively to make Maywood a healthier and safer community,” said LALCV President Tom Eisenhauer. “Councilmembers Guardado and Magaña have shown the leadership and dedication to address the serious environmental and public health concerns of the people of Maywood – from water quality and air pollution, to traffic and parks.”

Guardado and Magaña have worked to ensure the neighboring Exide Technologies cleanup effort is expanded to include a larger portion in Maywood then originally identified. They have fought for the inclusion of Community Alternative 7 as part of the 710 expansion project, and are concerned with any projects that may adversely increase truck traffic within the main corridors of Atlantic and Slauson. Guardado and Magaña have worked together with former State Assembly Speaker John Perez and Assemblymember Anthony Rendon to advocate for quality drinking water.
