The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) announced its endorsement of Councilmember Nithya Raman for Mayor of Los Angeles, citing her city council record as a champion of critical climate and environmental justice policies, and her environmental priorities for the city’s future.

She brings a strong track record on advancing environmental and climate policies and a clear vision to advance urgent climate action as Mayor,” said Maro Kakoussian, President, Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters. “As the City faces significant environmental challenges, from extreme heat, wildfires, air pollution, and neighborhood oil drilling, we need executive leadership that will move an agenda with the urgency these issues require to protect communities and our environment.”
During her time on the Los Angeles City Council, Raman has developed a record on issues that improve the health of LA families and protect valuable habitat. These include: building decarbonization, improving air quality, expanding zero-emission transportation, building climate resilience, curtailing neighborhood oil drilling, protecting our urban forestry, and improvements to native habitat.
“I’m honored to earn the powerful endorsement of the LA League of Conservation Voters,” said Raman. “Los Angeles should be leading the nation on climate action, but too much of that work remains unfinished. As mayor, I will work with LALCV and environmental justice leaders across the city to clean our air, accelerate the closure of neighborhood drilling sites, decarbonize buildings, create good green jobs and prepare every community for extreme heat and wildfire. Together, we will restore Los Angeles as a national climate leader and make sure every community shares in that progress.”
Raman’s mayoral agenda places climate and environmental policy among her priorities and emphasizes greater urgency in responding to climate change.
