LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA — The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) — supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County — announced its endorsement of Edward Belden representing Monrovia City Council. Edward Belden has run a successful small business, worked for local and national nonprofits and served in city government at the executive level. He has experience in Monrovia as the current President of the Monrovia Parks, Wilderness and Recreation Foundation; a community services commissioner; a member of the Art in Public Places Committee; and a Monrovia Area Partnership (MAP) leader.
Belden plans to address the drought and limited water supply by working with agencies to reduce water use in the landscape and convert turf to native and drought-tolerant plants among other courses of action. He also plans to improve air quality, increase access to parks, and address climate change by decarbonizing buildings and fleet, encouraging more active transportation, and transitioning to clean energy.
“LALCV is proud to endorse a lifelong environmental leader for Monrovia City Council. Edward Belden has spent a significant portion of his career working to improve communities by addressing environmental concerns. He has supported green infrastructure, park equity and access, restoration of thousands of acres of habitat, increasing local water supply, and youth environmental programs,” said LALCV President Shona Ganguly.
“I’ve spent my career improving the quality of life of communities by implementing solutions to help our physical health, our mental health, and our economic health. This endorsement helps highlight that work and I thank the LALCV for their support,” said Edward Belden.
