Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses Terry O’Day, Gleam Davis and Ted Winterer for Santa Monica City Council

(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which supports pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County, and has done so for more than three decades – today announces its endorsement of Terry O’Day, Gleam Davis, and Ted Winterer for reelection to Santa Monica City Council in the upcoming November 2016 election.

“The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters is proud to endorse these three superb councilmembers,” said LALCV President Tom Eisenhauer. “They will not only defend Santa Monica’s best-in-the-nation environmental policies; they will push the envelope to make Santa Monica even more environmentally responsible.”

“Councilmember Terry O’Day is arguably the strongest environmental leader in public office in California,” said Eisenhauer.

Terry O’Day’s many accomplishments include advocating for low-income housing in transit-oriented development. He led the Big Blue Bus transition to zero carbon and championed the groundbreaking policy to move Santa Monica off imported water by 2020. O’Day is also an outspoken critic of Measure LV, the ballot box planning measure, which LALCV also opposes. His website is www.terryoday.com.

Gleam Davis notably served on the Expo Construction Authority and worked to bring the Expo line to Santa Monica. Councilmember Davis previously served on the Santa Monica Planning Commission. In that capacity, she worked on the City’s urban runoff ordinance, supported Solar Santa Monica and bike safety programs. Previously, she co-chaired the Santa Monica-Malibu School District Facilities Committee, where she championed incorporation of sustainability into all new construction and renovation projects.

“Gleam Davis has proven herself a leader on sustainability issues that Santa Monica cares about,” said Eisenhauer. Her website is www.gleamdavis2016.com.

Ted Winterer is actively working to improve mobility on Santa Monica’s most congested streets, add 15 acres of parks and convert the airport to a great park. Winterer previously served on the Santa Monica Planning Commission, as co-chair of his neighborhood organization in Ocean Park and on the city’s Recreation and Parks Commission. He initiated the bike valet program at the Ocean Park farmer’s market and shepherded the Ocean Park Boulevard green streets plan.

“Ted Winterer has a strong record of committed neighborhood activism and an understanding of environmental issues that will allow him to continue serving Santa Monica well on the City Council,” Eisenhauer said. His website is www.tedforcouncil.com.
