Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses Los Angeles County Measure M

(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which supports pro-environment candidates and measures in Los Angeles County – today announced its endorsement of the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan, which will appear on the November ballot as Measure M.

Measure M will fund a twenty-first century transportation network for Los Angeles County that expands today’s system of subway, light rail, Rapid Bus, and bike lanes. Measure M will not only add to the existing transportation system but will accelerate the building of planned-but-not-yet built transit lines and tie together all the lines into a comprehensive system.

“Measure M will give Angelenos viable alternatives to using their cars,” said LALCV President Tom Eisenhauer. “Emissions from automobiles are the #1 contributor to air pollution in Los Angeles and the #1 cause of greenhouse gas pollution in America. Fixing LA’s traffic problem is a crucial step in helping our region move and grow – and it will vastly improve public health and quality-of-life in communities throughout the county.

“And Measure M promises real benefits for all Angelenos. Today, a LA County resident loses on average 80 hours per year to traffic,” Eisenhauer continues, “Measure M will substantively reduce those lost hours.”
