LOS ANGELES COUNTY (January 23, 2024)– The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County –  announced its endorsement of Imelda Padilla for Los Angeles City Council District 6 in the upcoming March 5th election.

“Councilmember Imelda Padilla has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental justice through tangible actions in her five months in office, including street clean-ups, tree-planting initiatives, and policy discussions with community organizations like Pacoima Beautiful,” said LALCV President Shona Ganguly. “She has proven her dedication to environmental justice, sustainable water management, active transportation, community engagement, and green spaces in the district.”

“As an ardent advocate for community empowerment and environmental stewardship, my journey resonates deeply with the values of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters,” said LA City Councilmember Imelda Padilla. “My two-decade-long commitment to service, starting from my days in the Los Angeles Youth Council, has been a testament to my dedication to fostering a community where every voice is heard and every action counts towards a sustainable future.”

Imelda’s diverse experiences, from championing the rise in minimum wage to combating corporate pollution, align seamlessly with LALCV’s mission of endorsing leaders who are not just aware of environmental challenges but are actively engaged in creating solutions. Her efforts, particularly in mobilizing various community factions towards shared goals, exemplify the kind of leadership that LALCV believes is crucial for a greener, more prosperous Los Angeles County.
