LOS ANGELES COUNTY (January 23, 2024)– The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – supporting pro-environment candidates throughout Los Angeles County –  announced its endorsement of Ardy Kassakhian and Karen Kwak for Glendale City Council in the upcoming March 5th election.

“Councilmember Ardy Kassakhian has a strong environmental ethic, has consistently supported critical environmental initiatives in the City of Glendale, and will continue to ensure that sustainability policies are implemented for Glendale residents,” said LALCV President Shona Ganguly. “Karen Kwak lives and breathes environmental issues as a lifelong transit-rider and pedestrian who has advocated for environmental action and protections. She believes that there are practical actions that can be implemented to increase pedestrian and bike safety and encourage residents to get out of their cars.”

“I am honored to have the support of the LA League of Conservation Voters. Addressing the issues related to climate change requires everyone’s involvement – from organized groups to elected officials but most importantly to every single person who is able to make the changes we need as a society to ensure the health of our communities and our planet,” said Councilmember Ardy Kassakhian. “I am proud to have spearheaded initiatives from mylar balloon bans to the electrification of building codes that have made Glendale a city that leads on climate change issues and look forward to doing more working together with the LALCV.”

“I am honored to receive LALCV’s endorsement. My lifelong commitment to promoting sustainable environmental policies has remained unchanged, regardless of political circumstances,” said Karen Kwak. “LALCV’s endorsement is the first endorsement that I have received from an environmental organization, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to working with LALCV to pass environmentally sound legislation, especially in finding and implementing solutions for the renter neighborhoods in Glendale.”
