Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters endorses Blanca Pacheco for Downey City Council District 1

(Los Angeles County) – The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV) – which has supported pro-environment local candidates throughout Los Angeles County for more than three decades – today announced its endorsement of Blanca Pacheco for election to the Downey City Council District 1 in the upcoming November 8th election.

“Blanca Pacheco is the best choice for Downey City Council in District 1,” said LALCV President Tom Eisenhauer. “She has the experience needed to fight for better air quality, less traffic, clean energy and parks for the people of Downey.”

Ms. Pacheco is an attorney who has been involved in her community for many years, including membership in the Downey Kiwanis Club, Gangs Out of Downey, and the Gypsy Johnson Auxiliary of the Assistance Club.  Through these organizations, she has actively participated in community clean-ups and environmental awareness campaigns. Ms. Pacheco is also a part-time instructor for Downey Adult School’s paralegal program. Assemblymember Cristina Garcia named Pacheco her “Woman of the Year” for 2016.

Ms. Pacheco plans to work to improve air quality in Downey by encouraging an increase in public transportation, community bicycle share programs, and expansion of bike paths. She would also work to create more public parks and open space for community use.
